Maths on the Metro Click on the images on the right to view the posters. As part of Greater Manchester's celebration of Maths Year 2000, Manchester Metropolitan University ran a Maths on the Metrolink campaign throughout the whole twelve-month period. With a series of eye-catching and thought-provoking posters in every carriage of the city-wide light rail system, the travelling public, both adults and children alike, were able to enjoy solving simple but challenging mathematical puzzles. The campaign's posters were changed every month and the first was on view in every carriage of the Metrolink from 1 January 2000. The posters were designed by contributors from all over Greater Manchester including primary and secondary school children, the Greater Manchester Mathematics Challenge, as well as colleagues from the Institute of Education at Manchester Metropolitan University. Every one of the posters featured a mathematical problem designed to provoke thought and discussion and which could be tackled by all age groups no matter what the level of ability in mathematics.
