Enhancing the Student Experience through Creative Pedagogy
The Annual Learning and Teaching Conference for the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care and the Institute of Education will take place on 4 June 2009 at the Sandra Burslem Building. The theme of this year’s Conference is Creative Pedagogy and how it enhances the student experience, including its relationship to many of the University’s key priority areas such as recruitment, retention and employability.
Key note speakers are Helen Bulpitt from the Higher Education Academy and Rachel Forsyth from MMU’s Centre for Learning and Teaching. Faculty staff will run workshops on a variety of themes relating to the creative pedagogy and the student experience. The full programme and details of the workshops are available below:
To register for the Conference please email Janet Edgar – j.edgar@mmu.ac.uk – and give your choice of workshop for the morning and your choice of workshop for the afternoon. There will obviously be a limit on workshop numbers so please provide a second preference in case your first preference is full. Please let us know if you have any special requirements, including access or dietary needs.
The Conference is free and is an excellent way to network with colleagues and share good practice. Although it is primarily for staff from the Institute of Education and the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care we welcome participation from other faculties and central departments. There are also a limited number of places available to those external to MMU – contact Janet Edgar, j.edgar@mmu.ac.uk if you are external to MMU and interested in attending.
We very much hope delegates will be able to stay for the whole event but if you can only attend in the morning or afternoon then you can register on that basis but please make this clear in your email and state whether you require lunch.
The Conference Planning Team want the Conference to publicise good practice and have invited staff to showcase their work - if you have a poster or other work that you would like to display (on any Learning and Teaching topic) please would you contact Janet Edgar – j.edgar@mmu.ac.uk by 1 June with the details.
