Working with partners to deliver programmes aimed at school/college improvement

We can offer specialist support for your own Professional Development Programmes. This is negotiated between you as the partner and MMU to provide a bespoke model. This can include: identification of needs, working to develop in house PD programmes, providing whole school or group sessions, providing accreditation for current or future in house PD programmes. We are also able to provide specialist "INSET" type sessions from which staff may want to gain accreditation.

Example A We are working with a partner school to deliver a whole school Coaching Programme, providing specialist group teaching as well as the offer of accreditation for work emerging from the programme.
Example B We are working with a partner school to accredit and support their established staff development programme for Middle Leaders so that participants can earn Masters credits.

If you are interested in discussing this for your own organisation please contact:

Working with individuals or small groups to develop their professional practice and gain credit (Masters or Undergraduate)

You may as an individual or part of a group be interested in developing your Professional Practice through undertaking some small classroom based or role based research (similar to work for TLA awards). We can work with you to plan, develop, evaluate and disseminate an agreed project. This will enable you to gain credits towards a MA in Teaching & Learning ( or towards BA (Hons) Education if you are not a graduate). This programme is also designed to provide a practice based pathway for NQTs (to replace the MTL programme).

Example A We are working with a group of teachers in a primary school who have recently taken on new responsibilities - each has worked with a tutor to develop a year long project focussing on their new role.
Example B A secondary school has a year long initiative developing aspects of Assessment for Learning across the school. We are supporting a group of teachers to take this a step further and accredit their participation.
Example C A Sixth Form College approached us to support and enhance their Induction Programme for NQTs. A tutor works alongside the Deputy Head on this programme and NQTs are working towards Masters credits.

If you are interested in discussing this for yourself or your organisation please contact: Rowena Smith Lead for CPD Partnerships.

Delivery of part of our Post Graduate Awards at a school, college or partner site

In this model MMU tutors lead the programmes but liaise with a member of staff on the partner site. Students enrol as MMU students and have access to all site and electronic resources and support. We can negotiate different combinations of units of study with you to best fit your priorities and needs. (subject to minimum numbers and SLAs).

Example A We deliver Post Graduate awards in Education Leadership & Management in schools and in collaboration with a Local Authority.
Example B We offer Post Graduate awards in Mentoring & Coaching at partner sites. In some cases participants from local schools (clusters or feeder schools) come together to form a learning group.

If you are interested in discussing this for your school or cluster please contact: Rowena Smith Lead for CPD Partnerships.

Working with other organisations to offer accreditation

We are currently working with education-related partners who offer specialist Professional Development programmes for schools. We can offer an accreditation route for participants to have this work recognised. If your organisation works with teachers, pupils, learners in non traditional settings and you would like to find out how you could work with MMU to recognise the work you and they do, please contact : Carole Page.
