Problems with technology can and will occur! The main thing to remember is “DON’T PANIC!” and the next thing to remember is that you probably don’t need to call for emergency help either.
A few simple checks may help get you on your way. All IWB systems have full instructions on their use attached to the computer cabinet or near to the board.
Please take the time to read these if you are unfamiliar with the system. Now let’s consider some possible problems
Nothing seems to be working.
Is there power? Is the system switched on at the wall? If so,
do the mains sockets work? (try plugging something else in to
check). Sometimes classrooms temporarily have no power.
I can’t see anything on the screen.
Is the projector switched on? If not, switch on with remote
control and check that the projector is set to the correct input.
See printed instructions in the teaching room.
Most importantly, have a back up of your files on floppy/CD/OHT;
there always needs to be some kind of fallback where technology
is concerned.
