Early Years Professional Status
Admission & Entry Requirements
Manchester Metropolitan University will complete an initial diagnostic assessment of candidates' training needs. Only those who are close to meeting the Standards will be enrolled for the validation pathway. Following the initial diagnostic assessment other candidates will be advised to undertake the short or long EPD pathway, or the full training pathway prior to validation.
Candidates following short, long/full pathways must meet the following entry requirements before starting on the EYPS assessment process (i.e. the final three months):
- A degree
- GCSE / O Level or recognised equivalent Maths and English language grade C or above (Numeracy and Literacy qualifications are not recognised as equivalent - Refer to TDA website for acceptable equivalent qualifications)
- Appropriate knowledge and experience of the age group birth to the end of the Foundation Stage
- Be physically and mentally fit to work as an Early Years Professional
- Show that they do not have a criminal background that might prevent them working with children, or as an Early Years Professional, and have not previously been excluded from working with children.
