The Physics Enhancement Course (PEC) is intended to support graduates who would benefit from intensive tuition in physics before joining a one year PGCE Secondary Science programme or Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) at any ITT Provider in England. The course will enable students to develop their physics to teach the 11-16 curriculum with confidence. Assessment is by assignments and in-class tests. On successful completion students are then eligible for the physics bursary on their PGCE course.
This course will be held at Manchester Metropolitan University, predominantly at Crewe campus.
The course is full time for 26 weeks (January to July) starting late January 2012.
The course is funded by Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) so there are no course fees for the student. Whilst on the course students will receive a bursary of £200 per week (paid monthly).

Prior to the course commencing there will be a half day induction for enrolment and administration including application for an Enhanced Criminal Record Bureau Certificate. An acceptable Enhanced CRB certificate is required and students are liable for the CRB application payment (£36 at time of creation). This process is done via MMU at enrolment. Previous CRB certificates cannot be accepted. You will be given information about the CRB process prior to this.
